it's no secret that i have some solid grandma tendencies. yasu will definitely tell you that i hardly ever finish a movie because i often fall asleep (though i could also blame my dad for that one...). my favorite thing that i inherited from my maternal grandmother, though, is the ability to knit. she taught me to knit when i was in early elementary school, and though i didn't get hooked on it until later in life, i will always credit her with teaching me from the start.
since moving to colorado, it's been a goal of mine to actually create with my knitting skills beyond the basics, and finally this winter i've learned some pretty awesome skills. with the help of an incredible teacher at my favorite local yarn shop, fancy tiger crafts (explore the website and swoon, honestly), i've created some pretty awesome things so far this winter.
as of late, my most treasured and needed project has been a pair of fingerless mitts. this winter has been darn cold, and they've been on my hands pretty much every time i've been outside since completing them.
to me, knitting is just a calm and serene activity, which i need at this point in my life--chasing a VERY energetic toddler around everyday is anything BUT serene! anyway, it was a fun and easy project to complete, but best of all, they're actually being worn and have come in quite handy (see what i did there??) this winter.
